I am a North East–based interdisciplinary artist with over twenty years of professional practice working across sound, moving image, performance and participatory arts. My work explores relationships between environment, perception and imagination through sensory-led creative processes. I am currently developing a new strand of site-responsive visual practice focused on drawing as a method of investigation, emerging from sustained engagement with natural landscapes and slower observational approaches to making.
My work has been presented nationally and internationally in gallery, festival and performance contexts, including the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA), Red House Centre for Culture and Debate (Sofia), FACT Liverpool and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. I have collaborated across film, contemporary dance, theatre and multimedia practice, composing sound design and original music for the award-winning short film Closer (directed by Tina Gharavi), recipient of the Czech Radio Award for Best Use of Sound or Music in a festival documentary. Alongside studio practice, I have delivered participatory projects, residencies and workshops with organisations across the North East, supporting communities, young people and emerging creatives through interdisciplinary arts learning.
My current research marks a return to drawing as a primary artistic language, integrating earlier experience in moving image, sound and collaborative practice into a slower, nature-connected methodology. Through site-responsive exploration and material experimentation, I am developing approaches that will inform future place-based workshops and accessible ways of sharing creative engagement with landscape and environment.
